Baby Names and Twin Prego Pics

My friend, Rachelle, had the story behind her girls names on her blog and I loved reading it, so I thought I would share our kids names stories with you:)

Joey worked at the MTC and another teacher there was married to a girl named Hayden. We loved the name so when I found out I was pregnant, we decided if it was a girl, she would be Hayden. Joey's grandmother passed away before he was born but she has had an affect on all of us. She was a beautiful woman who loved music. She was a such a sophisticated lady. We thought we could remember her by using her name, Claire, for Hayden's middle name. Whaalaa that is how we came up with Hayden Claire.
The boys....We thought it was a boy because of how icky and different from my first pregnancy I had been feeling. We had two names. One from my brother who passed away before I was born. Spencer was 9 months old when he died and every time I hear my mom say his name it's apparent the love she has for him. I wanted to honor him and my mom. Then a few weeks before the ultrasound Joey called me from campus and we were chatting. He was standing in the law school next to a bust of Abraham Lincoln and said, "What do you think of the name Lincoln?" So we had two names we loved and didn't know if we should use them both, one for a first name and one for a middle name, or wait to use one of the names for another child. Anyway, at 18 weeks during the ultrasound the doctor gave us the exciting news that we were having twins and we were able to use both of our boy names. So that is how we came up with Spencer Robert (Robert after Joey's dad) and Lincoln Joseph (after Joey). I was around 25 weeks when I decided who was who inside me. Doctors call the babies Baby A and Baby B but I wanted to know who was who before they came out. Spencer didn't move much and Lincoln liked to kick and hit and seemed a little crazy. For some reason, the name Spencer fit a more mellow baby and Lincoln fit a crazier baby. HOWEVER, now at 15 months old, Spencer is my crazier child!
Some of you have asked to see prego pics from the twins...well here they are. If you aren't into big, bare bellies, do not continue:)

September ( about 16 weeks pregnant, I didn't even know it was twins yet...I just thought I was getting big fast!)

January(about 33 weeks pregnant, they were born February 4th, 4 1/2 weeks early)

Hayden just came over and looked at my blog and said, "Mommy, you shouldn't show your belly." I don't know if she meant I shouldn't because it's immodest or I shouldn't because of how it looks:) Too bad cause I'm proud of that belly!!

This Week...

Call it lazy, but this is how my boys drink out of their sippies.
When my boys are too quiet, I get nervous because they are usually getting into trouble...well this day they found my "time-of-the-month" drawer and had at it.
My boys are not cuddly at all but one day this week all they wanted was loves. I just laid on the ground and they snuggled. It was great!

Hayden is my little singer! Josh Groban watch out!!

Precious Moments

Hayden and I were having a wonderfully uplifting conversation yesterday. I was talking to her about how special she is and how there is only one of her in the whole world. I told her how much I love her and how much of a blessing it is to have her in our home...then she looked at me and smiled and then stuck her finger up my nose. I don't think she quite got the message...someday, right?

Kids are Funny!

Spencer was saving some of his snack for later.

Lincoln thought he was Mr. Potato Head...good thing he didn't stick the nose on!
Is she 3 or 16...I walked into Hayden's room the other day when I thought she was playing and she was laying in bed listening to music and she said, "Mom, I need some privacy."
She may be getting old, but thank goodness she still needs me to help with her dress-up clothes.

Preschool

Hayden is in a coop preschool so I teach every few classes. Yesterday we talked about talents. The kids are pretty talented:) Hayden sang, "I Am a Child of God" to her whole class. It was beautiful. I was grinning from ear-to-ear. She made me so proud. We played a game after the lesson and one of the questions during the game was, "What do you want to be when you grow-up?" Hayden's answer was...."A fire engine."

Hayden's Fairytale

We tell princess stories on a daily basis, but I haven't seen Mulan so I asked Hayden to tell me the story instead (FYI she hasn't seen it either) and here is her rendition of Mulan....

Once upon a time in a far away land, there was a princess named Mulan and she was in love with the prince. A man told her not to marry the prince and she was really, really unhappy and the witch was unhappy. And the prince had sword. And she ate grapes from a brick. And Mulan fell in love and she danced, and danced until the wicked witch came. The witch saw her getting married. And she said, "No, no I want to marry you." And Mulan said, "Ahhhhhh" And the prince said, "I will protect you." And she said, "Thank you." And they got married and danced.

Dance, Dance, Dance!

Hayden had a dance recital last night and just loved the excitement! We will miss the class so much when we and the teacher move...Thanks Celeste for all you do! I asked her what fun activity she wanted to take part in in Orange County when we move...I gave her lots of options: music, soccer, swimming, etc., but she wants more dance. I love it!

Another funny thing...

Joey had his tonsils out last week. Poor guy has lost 10 lbs. He hasn't been able to talk and he uses hand gestures to answer my questions. Hayden has a little friend, Logan, who is deaf so she asked me if "Daddy was deaf now since he doesn't talk and uses his hands to talk like Logan."
